“[Byron Velvick] told deputies she started striking him in the chest [while] he pushed her to her side of the truck,” Bordner told The Times.
That was apparently the crux of a disageement between The Bachelor sixth-season lovebirds Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado that eventually led to Delgado’s arrest on a domestic battery charge by Seminole, FL authorities.
During the special, Delgado and Velvick said they planned to wed next November. While the couple has yet to wed and delayed their wedding plans several times, they’ve remained engaged over the last three years. She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail around 12:30AM Wednesday morning and was released on her own recognizance later that afternoon.
(Interestingly, they say the dispute came after watching The Bachelor: After the Final Rose. )

While The Times reported Velvick didn’t want to press charge and also did not want his injuries photographed, Pinellas County deputies still determined a crime had happened and Delgado was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with domestic battery.
Delgado and Velvick were at a friends’ condominium last Tuesday night when the pair disagreed over whether they should leave the home after the couple they had been visiting with began arguing, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt Jim Bordner told The Tampa Tribune in a Monday report.
(Interestingly, they say the dispute came after watching The Bachelor: After the Final Rose. After 12 seasons, only two couples previous to Matt and Shayne are still together: Trista, the first Bachelorette and her husband, Ryan Sutter, who are now parents; and Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado, who were involved in a domestic dispute last year. The domestic battery charge against Delgado is a misdemeanor, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office subject charge report.

Delgado and Velvick met during filming for The Bachelor’s Fall 2005 sixth-season, which ended with Velvick proposing marriage to Delgado. While the couple has yet to wed and delayed their wedding plans several times, they’ve remained engaged over the last three years.
Ironically, the couple’s argument came only about an hour after they made an appearance on ABC’s Tuesday night broadcast of The Bachelor: After the Final Rose.
