In a town where divorce is expected and being even a mediocre divorce lawyer will have you set for life, Will Smith and his wife of 10 years Jada Pinkett Smith are bucking the trend. In a talk show interview Monday, Will Smith said he and his wife have been able to stay together an almost unheard of 10 years in Hollywood because they agreed that divorce was not an option for them.

In the interview, Will Smith said many couples divorce in L.A. because it is an easy option…much easier than working out the problems between them it seems. “A huge part of the success for [Jada] and I is that we just removed the other options,” said Smith.

But that’s not the story you’ll hear from divorce lawyers all over California. Finally, do your best to stay out of the divorce lawyer’s office. Take the advice of Will and Jada Smith and take divorce off the table as an option. If many of the couples seeking a divorce would work as hard at their marriage as they are working at ending it…it might not be such a problem!
